Get Rid of AT&T
Got time to hear a story that could save you (as it did me) thousands of dollars annually?
In 2008, I wanted to move my offices five blocks – from 8888 Keystone at the Crossing to 3755 East 82nd. Unbelievably, AT&T would not let me keep my business phone number. (Something about my moving to an address covered by a different AT&T Central Office.)
I had money and time invested in my number. I thought that there must be an alternative … and there was! Since phone numbers now belong to the customer, I could move anywhere and keep my same number … just as long as I didn’t use AT&T in the new location. Since I (like many people) don’t like AT&T, I looked for alternatives.

- (AT&T) $675 for internet service
- (Integrated Business Solutions) $149 for a fractional T-1 (a shared pipe)
- (Brighthouse) $195 for networking services
- (@LINK) $258 for the Centrex system
- (Telecare) $200 for out of state long distance and my 800 numbers
So, for 12 workers, I was paying $2,107.00 each month for telephone and internet. That’s $175.58 per worker.
